Head 2 Head – Virginia
How It Works
The platform is a crowd-sharing competition that helps athletes gain exposure for recruiting. Our Head 2 Head Competition features the Top 10 MaxPreps Leaders in the following categories: Passing, Rushing, Receiving, Tackling, Interceptions, and Sacks. Recently, we have expanded the competition to include the Top CB, Top Safety, Pancake Masters, and Top D-Lineman.
The competition typically begins the week before Thanksgiving and continues throughout the summer. The single elimination Head 2 Head bracket allows the fans to vote for the winner. It’s on the athlete to market himself, pushing out the video to his community and friends. Each heart on Instagram represents a vote, with fans casting a vote by either tagging him on Instagram or putting his name. Our Twitter survey is an additional way that fans can support their pick.
How Your Support Help Under-Recruited Athletes
The power of the internet and social media can significantly help high school athletes get exposure and increase their chances of being recruited for college athletics. Here’s how it works:
- Broader Exposure: It provides additional promotion outside the athlete marketing his won brand when other people LIKE/SHARE the content. You never know who will be viewing your reel or highlights. Recruiters have area scouts and contracted personnel who find hidden talent.
- Social Media Promotion: High school athletes and their supporters can leverage social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube to share videos, photos, and updates about their athletic performances. Using appropriate hashtags and tagging relevant accounts can help increase visibility.
- Online Sports Communities: There are online communities and forums where athletes can post their accolades and highlights to help with networking and promoting their brands for scholarships and NIL opportunities.
- Regular Updates: This competition offers additional content athletes can use to update coaches and family members about their performances, stats, and achievements. Consistency in sharing information keeps followers engaged and informed.
By effectively using the internet and social media, high school athletes can expand their reach, connect with a wider audience of college recruiters, and increase their visibility. This exposure is crucial in today’s competitive world of college athletic recruitment, where coaches often turn to digital platforms to discover talent.
