In high school football, few players can command a field’s attention like Sahir West. The formidable 6’3″, 220-pound linebacker hailing from Mount Saint Joseph is a combination of size, athleticism, and instinctual prowess. West is undeniably an impact player when it comes to the linebacker position. His high level of play is noticeable, ranking him amongst the top high school linebackers in the MIAA.
West’s physicality and long frame immediately fall apart as he sheds blockers with authority and delivers bone-jarring hits. His power is enhanced by his agility and speed, defying his size, which enables him to play fast. Whether diagnosing a screen, plugging a lane, or dropping back into coverage, West’s decision-making and anticipation put him in the right place at the right time. His speed and lateral movement enable him to cover running backs and tight ends in pass-coverage situations effectively. His exceptional size gives him the advantage in creating disruptions at the line of scrimmage and maintaining gap integrity against the run. West encapsulated an astounding ten sacks, 63 tackles, and an interception in his junior year. West earned All-MIAA and second-team All-Metro Honors ending his season with a MaxPreps Ranking of 14th in the State of Maryland in Sacks. As West continues to dominate the high school football scene, his trajectory toward a promising collegiate career becomes all the more apparent.
