After arriving at Mount Zion Prep, Gorham worked his way into the National Team’s running back rotation and earned opportunities at multiple positions. He prides himself on being a dependable teammate who protects the football, embraces blocking assignments, remains coachable, and is willing to fill whatever role helps his team succeed.
Gorham brings that same discipline to the classroom, maintaining a 3.6 cumulative GPA and earning Cum Laude recognition. His goal is to continue developing into a complete student-athlete, earn the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level, earn his degree, and represent his family, coaches, and program positively.
EVALUATION
Gorham profiles as a physical, versatile two-way prospect with the skill set to develop into a complete three-down back. He combines a downhill running style with developing pass-catching and route-running ability, while his experience at H-back gives him additional value as a blocker, receiver, and versatile backfield option.
His experience playing linebacker adds another dimension to his evaluation. Playing both sides of the football has helped develop a physical mentality, understanding of leverage, pursuit angles, gaps, and how defenders approach contact. Those traits translate to his running style, where he shows a willingness to lower his pads, absorb contact, maintain balance, and finish runs physically.
Gorham’s willingness to block, protect the football, contribute on special teams, and embrace roles that do not always result in touches speaks to his versatility and team-first approach. He offers multiple ways to contribute beyond traditional running-back carries.
As a Class of 2028 prospect, Gorham still has considerable developmental upside. Continued improvement in initial burst, lateral quickness, route-running detail, receiving consistency, pass-protection technique, and verified athletic testing will help determine his long-term ceiling. His combination of physicality, two-way experience, positional flexibility, academics, dependability, and competitive approach gives him a strong foundation and makes him a prospect worth continuing to monitor as his game develops.
Before entering high school, Gorham developed his versatility during his 12U and 13U seasons with DMV Prime, competing at running back, H-back, linebacker, and defensive tackle. His ability to contribute on both sides of the football helped him develop a strong understanding of multiple positions while establishing the physicality, toughness, defensive instincts, and blocking ability that remain important parts of his game.
During his time with DMV Prime, Gorham was part of a program that won two state championships, and he earned recognition as DMV Prime’s Defensive Player of the Season. Those experiences helped establish his team-first mentality and prepared him to take on multiple responsibilities at the high school level.
During his freshman season at Bishop McNamara, Gorham began adjusting to the increased speed, physicality, and discipline of high school football. He continued developing at running back and linebacker while improving his strength, football knowledge, blocking technique, and understanding of offensive and defensive responsibilities. That season provided an important foundation for his development into a more complete and dependable football player.
Gorham continued working his way into the National Team’s running-back rotation while earning opportunities at both running back and H-back. His journey has reinforced the importance of preparation, coachability, versatility, and making the most of every opportunity.
Off the field, Gorham maintains a 3.6 cumulative GPA and has earned Cum Laude recognition. His goal is to continue developing as a complete student-athlete, earn an opportunity to play college football, obtain his degree, and positively represent his family, coaches, teammates, and program.
Throughout the year, Gorham focused on improving his strength, contact balance, vision, blocking technique, and overall conditioning. The experience challenged him physically and mentally, reinforcing the importance of preparation, patience, discipline, and perseverance.
Gorham continued to perform in the classroom as well, maintaining a 3.6 cumulative GPA, earning a 3.7 fourth-quarter GPA, and receiving Cum Laude recognition.
Rather than allowing adversity to slow his development, Gorham used his sophomore year as an opportunity to mature. The challenges he encountered strengthened his discipline and helped prepare him to take advantage of future opportunities both academically and on the football field.
Joshua Gorham entered his junior year with a productive offseason focused on training, competition, and exposure. He earned recognition as a Top-5 running back at the NCEC event and continued testing himself at several competitive events, including the Battle of the DMV, Penn State and West Virginia 7-on-7 events, Morgan State camp, and JDF camp at West Chester. Throughout the offseason, Gorham continued developing his strength, football IQ, and versatility while gaining experience at running back, H-back, linebacker, and on special teams.
During the 2026 season, Gorham joined the Mount Zion Preparatory Academy National Team and began working his way into a larger offensive role. In his first game against McDonogh, he entered in the second half and provided physical carries, contact balance, energy, and strong blocking.
As the season progressed, Gorham earned the RB2 role while also receiving opportunities at H-back and on special teams. As one of the younger running backs in the position room, he continues to develop behind experienced upperclassmen while demonstrating his ability to run physically, block, protect the football, and contribute in multiple roles.
