Tyler Womack: Rising Star Excels On And Off The Field

When you think of an exemplary athlete, Annapolis running back and rising senior Tyler Womack naturally comes to mind. Womack excels on and off the field, embodying the true spirit of a student-athlete dedicated to his community. When he’s not at track or football practice, he enjoys spending time in nature, lifting weights, and mentoring Youth at the Bates Boys and Girls Club.

Womack’s community contributions have earned him significant recognition. The Boys and Girls Club of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County honored him as a standout club member, a role he has embraced since age six. In front of about 300 guests, he received the prestigious Youth of the Year award for his efforts to inspire and motivate Youth, proving that anything is possible. Womack advocates for young people struggling with confidence and unrealized potential. Other nominees for Youth of the Year included Praysia Lancaster, a 15-year-old freshman at Meade High School; Cerell Baker, a 17-year-old senior at Glen Burnie High School; and Rafael Edwards, 15.

On the field, Womack’s junior year was equally impressive. He rushed for over 1,536 yards, averaging 156.36 yards a game with 14 touchdowns during the 2023 football season. His best performance involved 28 rushes for 341 yards and three touchdowns, along with three two-point conversions, leading the Panthers to a 42-30 victory over rival Severna Park. His outstanding play earned him a spot on the Capital Gazette All-County first-team offense, MPSSAA All-State Honorable Mention, and MaxPreps’ 5th-ranked Rusher in the State of Maryland.

After a disappointing 2-8 record during his sophomore year, Tyler Womack, a determined and inspiring leader, resolved to push his teammates and cultivate a new culture of winning at Annapolis High School. He dedicated himself during the offseason, and the results became evident early in the season. Womack’s explosiveness and power were fully displayed once he hit the second level. He is not a running back easily taken down at first contact. His ability to elude and escape defenders caused trouble for opposing teams, as he used his quick feet and loose hips to churn up yards. Womack thrived in the red zone as a slasher, using his power and vision to score.

Despite a challenging season with a 4-5 record, Womack remains focused on leaving a lasting legacy at Annapolis High School and pursuing his dream of playing in the NFL one day.
