As the football season reaches its pinnacle, all eyes are on the electrifying clash between Frederica Academy and Valwood High School. The matchup between Frederica Academy and Valwood High School is steeped in history, marked by a longstanding rivalry filled with intensity and significance. Their previous encounters have been battles of skill, determination, and grit, each game adding another chapter to a storied rivalry.

The upcoming match against Valwood poses a significant challenge for the Frederica Academy Knights, with Valwood showcasing a high-powered offensive game, averaging 48 points per match and an impressive three shutouts this season. With a record of 6-5, the Knights set their sights on returning to the state title game. However, their journey faces an initial hurdle in the form of Valwood, a formidable 9-1 opponent that has displayed consistent dominance throughout the year.

While acknowledging Valwood’s high-scoring offense, their strength lies in their effective run plays, using passing as a complement to their primary strategy. Regarding Jordan Triplett’s pursuit of becoming the prep’s all-time leading rusher in Georgia, Triplett’s selfless attitude, prioritizing team success over individual accolades, is why he is such an effective leader. Jordan Tripplett, a standout talent from Frederica Academy, is a force to be reckoned with. His exceptional achievements on the field are nothing short of astounding.

Originally slated to clash at the Valwood School on Sept. 1, the anticipated matchup between the two schools was unfortunately canceled due to the aftermath of Hurricane Idalia, causing an alteration in the schedule. Now, the Knights are ready to face this postponed challenge in what promises to be an intense battle on the field. The Knights’ overarching goal remains centered on returning to the state championship.

GIAA AAA Semi-Finals: Valwood HS verse Frederica Academy 

Valwood hosted Frederica Academy Knights at Goddard Field, securing a 56-30 victory and their spot in the GIAA AAA state championship against John Milledge Academy Trojans. The Valiants took an initial 21-10 lead at halftime, eventually building a 42-17 advantage by the third quarter. The game showcased impactful plays from De’Mar Riley, Marquis Fennell, and Triston White, whose contributions accounted for a significant chunk of Valwood’s offensive prowess.

Despite a determined effort from Frederica, including a milestone rush from Jordan Triplett, Valwood maintained control. Riley’s kickoff return for a touchdown and Fennell’s impressive four touchdowns fueled the Valiants’ victory. The Valwood defense remained resilient, restricting the Knights to a 27% third-down conversion rate. With a total of 497 yards by Riley, White, and Fennell, Valwood dominated the game, tallying 520 total yards compared to Frederica’s 422. Snellgrove’s efficient passing and Valwood’s balanced offensive play highlighted their strong performance.

The Valiants’ victory solidifies their place in the GIAA AAA state championship, where they will face the John Milledge Academy Trojans, setting the stage for an intense and thrilling showdown.
